Discussing Nationalism within the Provinces of Canada

Bloc Albertois is (in part) a parody of the Bloc Québécois party. We support and encourage the separation of Quebec from the rest of Canada!

Quebec is a nation within Canada, but $28 billion dollars in federal support transfers will be sent to Quebec in 2024-2025. Quebec is an enormous drain on the Canadian budget, larger even than Ontario.

Quebec has no reason to be a recipient of such charity. Quebec has all the resources it needs to be the most prosperous province in the nation:

  • a large population of over 8 million peoples
  • plenty of natural resources, including forests and minerals
  • access to international shipping routes via the St Lawrence
  • political influence 78 federal seats in the House of Commons

Instead Quebec receives billions of Canadian dollars in Equalization payments. It isn’t just Quebec, either, Ontario also stands to receive $28 billion in Transfer payments, including a half-billion dollars in equalization payments, even though Ontario shares the same prosperity benefits Quebec has, if not more.
As the eldest provinces, Quebec and Ontario should be the largest contributors to Canadian GDP, but instead they’re draining a combined $58bn Canadian dollars.
Canadians believe in social medicine and causes, but Western Canada cannot continue propping Eastern Canada through these Transfer Payments. Every province needs to pull its weight instead of leaning on the others to maintain their social care systems.
